My Ally
As the journey for victims and survivors of domestic abuse can often be long as they rebuild their lives, My Ally is a new emotional and practical telephone and group support service meeting the individual needs of women at each stage of that journey.
Launching in March 2021, My Ally will be run by trauma-informed trained volunteers, who are women with lived experience of domestic abuse, whether personally or professionally, offering individualised support for domestic abuse victims and survivors.
We are currently recruiting our first group of volunteers. All volunteers will undergo a thorough recruitment process and a 3 week training programme which includes:
- Induction
- Trauma informed practice
- Safeguarding Everyone Level 1
- Active listening training
- Watford Women's Centre Domestic Abuse Training
All volunteers will be supported throughout their time with My Ally with post-shift de-briefs, as well as regular mentoring from our Volunteer Coordinator and supervision from our Clinical Team.
