SOCIAL MEDIA
Social media networks (eg Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat etc) are not secure and your friends can easily, and unknowingly, share information about you that can help an abuser track you down. Everything you and others post can be a trigger to an abuser.
The best way to avoid this is to delete your social media accounts & and don’t use them. If you want to continue using social media, create a new account with an obscure name, don't post photos of yourself or use them in your profiles.
- Only add and follow your most trusted friends and ask them to use the highest privacy and security settings.
- Go through each option on you profile, privacy and security settings and make your account as private as possible and don’t allow people to tag you.
- Please be aware that the Snapchat app shows the user's location, and we recommend that this app isn't used or that it is deleted, if you currently use it.
