WELLBEING AND MENTAL HEALTH
Watford Women’s Centre is committed to supporting the wellbeing and mental health of people in our community.
Build Confidence, Independence and Self Esteem
Independence and self-confidence are closely linked. By supporting independence and empowering people with new skills, we can help to nurture the mental health of our service users by boosting their self-esteem. This can be done:
- by providing personal development courses and workshops for women to support their mental health, and to teach them techniques which they can use to lead more independent and productive lives. See our workshops and courses here;
- by teaching ESOL courses to people who want to learn or improve their English, enabling them to assimilate into our community, giving them the confidence to contribute, the confidence to be independent, and giving them knowledge to broaden their job opportunities;
- by providing IT courses and Employability Courses to enable people to upskill. IT skills are fast becoming essential life-skills, and so having them increases job opportunities, but can also boost confidence, independence and self-esteem;
- by offering FREE Careers advice to everyone, which will improve employment opportunities and economic independence;
- by providing low-cost counselling for women over the age of 18, allowing them to talk to female therapists in a safe and supportive environment;
- through our Relationship and Domestic Abuse Support Services through telephone and virtual support groups for women of 18+, and our appointments with specialist support workers;
- through one of our Facebook Social Groups which allows ladies to chat about things which they have a common interest in, such as arts and crafts, yoga, mindfulness, and so on.
